1ST ROA DIVISION WAR CEMETERIES IN PRAGUE


During the Prague uprising the 1st ROA Division (or the 1st Division of the Komitee for Liberation of Nations in Russia Armed Forces - VS KONR) lost 300 men dead and wounded. This number is known for days from 5th to 7th May 1945 only. Cmplete exact number will probably never be known.
There are 14 war cemeteries with 1st Division fallen's graves known up to date, one mass grave of wounded 1st Division member massacred after the war by NKVD in Prague hospitas after the war and one grawe with two 1st Division soldiers killed by Red Army soldiers after the war. For better overview we divided known burial places into four areas: the Northern, the Center and the Southern one.



Northern Area


In this area mainly victims of jet fighter/bombers Messerschmitt Me-262s air attacks from the Ruzyne airfield and victims of the fight for the airfield itself are buried.

Krteň

There are five Vlassov's troops killed during German jets air attack in nearby Chrášťany buried in cemetery at the Krteň Church. Their burial place is not marked.

Stodůlky

There are four Vlassov's troops killed during fights in the village and at nearby Bílý beránek crossing buried in cemetery at Stodůlky.

Ruzyně

The Ruzyně cemetery overloks battlefield of the 1st Division's 3rd Regiment: from the SS barracks to the Ruzyne airfield (today Václav Havel Airport). There is a mass grave of unknown number of Vlassov's troops there.

Three Vlassov's troops fallen in figth with German anti-aircraft batteries on the Ruzyně airfield perimeter are buried here.

There is a mass grave of unknown number of Vlassov's troops fallen in figth with German anti-aircraft batteries on the Ruzyně airfield perimeter on the Old Cemetery in Hostivice.

Liboc - Vokovice

There are 39 Vlassov's troops buried in the common grave of Prague Uprising victims there. They are not mentioned on the cenotaph.

Náměstí hrdinů

On the Soudní náměstí (the Court Square) renamed after the war to the Náměstí hrdinů (the Heroes Square) there was a common grave of 39 victims of the Prague Uprising. Sixteen of them were Vlassov's troops, killed in action in the Prague quarter of Pankrác. After the war the square was rebuilt. During these alterations the common grave was abolished while the recent burial place of rests of Vlassov's troops is unknown.

Olšany Cemetery

There is a mass grave of 187 Vlasov’s troops at the Olšany Cemetery. These soldiers were wounded during fights against German forces in Prague. Despite this they were shoot down by members of the soviet NKVD in Prague hospitals after the end of the war. In 1995 historian Stanislav A. Auský exhumed a grave of ROA generals Vladimir I. Boyarski and Mikhail M. Shapovalov and a German liaison officer Major Karl-Ludwig Ottendorf in Příbram and re-buried these three officers here as well. Stanislav A. Auský himself and his wife Nonna are buried here too.

Dolní Počernice

At the cemetery in Dolní Počernice two Vlasov’s troops were buried after the war, who were executed there by members of the Red Army. Their grave is not marked.



Southern Area


In the southern area victims of fighting against SS-Kampfgruppe Klein at the mouth of the river Berounka into Vltava are buried: in Lahovičky, Radotín, Velká Chuchle, Malá Chuchle and Hlubočepy and their surroundings.

Radotín

There is a common grave of three Vlasov’s troops at Radotín Cemetery, fallen in fight against Waffen-SS in Radotín on 7th May 1945 there.

Lahovičky

In the monument to the Prague Uprising victims in Lahovičky ashes of sixteen Vlasov’s troops, fallen in the battle for Lahovice bridge is stored. They were buried more northwards originally, but in the sixties in connection with the expansion of the road the cemetery was cancelled. The victims were exhumed and buried in family tombs if their relatives were interested. Others were cremated and their urn had been stored in the new memorial. Vlasov’s troops are listed as "unknowns" here.

At the cemetery in Slivenec there is a mass grave of approximately seventeen Vlasov’s troops, fallen in the village and its surroundings.
